Christmas magic at Hopmann
The days are getting shorter, there is a scent of mulled wine and cookies in the air and the streets and houses are glittering with twinkling lights. Christmas is around the corner and so is the Ho-Ho-Hopmann Christmas party! On Wednesday evening, we enjoyed the festive season together with all our colleagues – an evening full of surprises, funny photos, good conversations and wonderful moments that brought us closer together as a team. Here is a short review of the unforgettable evening.
Perfect location for a cozy evening
On a frosty day, we were welcomed with a mulled wine reception right outside Farmer & Lou in Munich – a beautiful restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere and a friendly team that was perfect for our event. Especially the fact that we had the location all to ourselves made the evening a great experience.
As we all gathered outside the restaurant and warmed up with our mulled wines, we were looking forward to everything to come. Each of us brought a small, beautifully wrapped gift that would later find a new owner at the very special Secret Santa, called “Schrottwichteln” in German.
Meanwhile, the Farmer & Lou team was already preparing the delicious 3-course menu, which was definitely a highlight of the evening! We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our colleague Wayne, who captured the food perfectly 🙂
Gift giving – let the dice decide!
What a question, should we stick with Kris Kringle or have some chaotic fun? We thought long and hard and decided to the roll the dice for our gift giving. Seeing all the fun, laugher, and quirky gifts that were given, it turned out to be a great decision!
It was indeed one of the absolute highlights of the evening – and we laughed a lot!
The unique part? The dice decided who would get which present and how often it would be exchanged.
From fairy lights, snow globes, poker chips, puzzle games and boccia balls to funny decorative items and a porcelain duck – the range was just as diverse as the reactions of the recipients. According to the saying “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure”, many colleagues got rid of things from their cupboards or shelves that may now have a special place in somebody else’s home.
The excitement and the many surprises made the game a lot of fun. 🎁
As inspiration for anyone who wants to try it out, here are the rules we played by:
1. We’ll use dice to distribute and exchange gifts.
2. The rules are simple:
🎲 If you roll a 1, 2, or 3: Pick a new gift from the pile. If you already have one, skip to the next person.
🎲 If you roll a 4: Exchange your gift with your right-hand neighbor.
🎲 If you roll a 5: Exchange your gift with your left-hand neighbor.
🎲 If you roll a 6: All gifts will be exchanged clockwise!
And now, get ready for a fun and unpredictable gift exchange full of surprises!
Funny photo contest in a team
After the “Schrottwichteln”, there was another highlight that definitely brought a lot of fun and creative energy: Our Hopmann photo contest. Everyone was given a small piece of paper with a task on it. For example:
Dressed up with matching Christmas accessories, each of us was portrayed in a range of categories – whether with the most recent team members, the early risers, the real “Christmas fans” or those who held the longest business calls.
The photos are not only great memories, but also show how wonderfully diverse our team is. 📸
Thank you for a great year
In a heartfelt speech, our Managing Directors, Susanne and Jörg, reviewed 2024. They addressed the most important milestones of the year and thanked the entire team for their great commitment and their fantastic work. We were able to implement many exciting projects this year – a detailed review of the year will follow shortly on our blog.
To sum it up: our 2024 Christmas party was a wonderful event – from the good conversations to the very special gift giving, the funny photos and the delicious food. It was an evening that once again showed us all how wonderful and valuable our time together outside of everyday office life is.
We’d like to thank the whole team for this evening – especially Wayne for the food survey, Tobias for the dice game, Marilena and Carolin for the photo competition and of course Susanne and Jörg for sponsoring the Christmas party and creating the perfect setting for the evening. We are already looking forward to the next team event!
